All souls have equal value in the eyes of our creator
Our parish bridges the historic and modern aspects of our community to create an open and welcoming place.
All are welcome
St. Peter's is a vibrant and growing congregation in the middle of the Montgomery County Agricultural Preserve. Being situated in Poolesville we enjoy the quiet and beauty of these lands, while remaining a part of the energy and vitality of the Washington metropolitan region.
St. Peter's is a unique parish. Our members are a mix of folks, some of whom have been in this area for generations, while others are new to the area, coming from all over the country. We have farmers, educators, professionals, stay-at-home mothers and more. What we all have in common is our love of Jesus and a desire to fulfill the mission and ministry he left the Church; to make God's love known.
Whether you a just beginning an exploration of faith or are further along the path, we are an open and affirming Church where all are welcome.
A life-long Episcopalian, Reverend Lloyd grew up in La Jolla, CA and Winston Salem, NC. She holds a B.A. in Religious Studies and English with a minor in Drama from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After feeling a call to ordained ministry in college, Emily attended Yale Divinity School where she earned a Master of Divinity and a Diploma in Anglican Studies. She was ordained in the Diocese of Connecticut to the diaconate in 2012 and the priesthood in 2013. After graduating from Yale, Emily moved to Stonington, CT to serve as Curate at Calvary Church. In 2014, she followed God's call to NYC to serve as Associate Rector at The Church of St. Luke in the Fields in Manhattan's West Village.
The Vestry is the body elected by the parish to manage the mission and ministry of the parish. Meeting monthly, the Vestry provides leadership in most areas of ministry in cooperation with the Rector.
