 South Africa
In the summer of 2005, Saint Peter's established a partnership with Anglican and Dutch Reformed Churches in South Africa to provide spiritual, health, nutrition, sanitation and employment support in Richmond, South Africa.  Numerous parishioners have traveled to Richmond to participate in on-going work, while other have helped by raising funds and gathering clothing, musical instruments, sports supplies and over-the-counter medication to send to Richmond.  Over the past year, several international service organizations and another Episcopal Church have been added to the partnership.  The website for the partnership is www.hopeinsouthafrica.com.

RICHMOND, THE D.C. BLAST and ST. PETERS
Appearing in a July 17 Washington Post article (page F7) entitled "Soccer Players Come Home with Open Eyes."  This exceptionally powerful story recounts how members of D.C. Blast, a teenage girls' soccer team, established friendships earlier this month with girls in Richmond, South Africa.  "Under the umbrella of a program started two years ago by St. Peter's Church in Poolesville," the American team "stayed two days to deliver food and play with the local kids."  Lives were changed through personal contacts.  Blast members hope to return to Richmond as well as raise money so that South African girls can visit the United States.  If you don't have the newspaper handy, check the Washington Post website.

This is your invitation to join a team to provide meals, friendly visiting, telephone reassurance, or transportation for interested St. Peter's members.  For more information, please contact Boo Davis (831-8327) or Karen Wathen (407-9022).
